As you read these lines I’ve probably be sunning myself in Spain. I always intend to be super organised and pack weeks before going on holiday, but the reality is very different. As a working mum I never seem to have much time and to be fair packing is something I end up leaving to the last minute every single time.
There are certain things though that I always make into my suitcase – they are my essentials for a summer holiday.
I love wearing dresses in the summer. Not only they are practical -on those 2 days of hot weather we have- but they also look very stylish. White seems to be the colour of this season, and who doesn’t love a little white dress? I’m always a bit worried about wearing white for many reasons, the main one being having young kids that like to clean their hands on me, and let’s face it, I’m a bit of a messy eater myself. However white looks great in the summer or on holiday with a bit of a tan.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you’ll probably have noticed the latest trend in handbags. Yes, for the second year running, basket bags will be the most popular accessory of the summer. Made of straw, raffia or jut the basket bags are back in fashion.
Basket bags make me think of the French countryside, summer holidays strolling by the sea and eating al fresco.
They are really versatile, good enough to wear with jeans and a top on a day out. They are also perfect to keep all your essentials on the beach, and still look stylish. It’s the perfect style to achieve the beach-to-bar look.
I must admit my levels of excitement went through the roof when The White Company got in touch and asked if I ‘d be interested in picking my favourite items from their spring collection. I mean who would say no? The White Company is one of my favourite brands ever and it’s my go to place when buying gifts for friends or for myself.
The White Company name always springs to mind when thinking of affordable luxury, with their beautiful packaging, clean lines and a style that suits not just the minimalists but also the fashionistas out there. And those on the look out for great quality.
Picking favourites from their spring collection wasn’t an easy choice, they have so many gorgeous pieces that narrowing them down to just a few was quite a difficult task.
Some people are shoe or coat obsessed, but for me it’s all about handbags. Not sure where my obsession comes from but ever since I can remember I’ve always been interested in bags. What is it with bags? I guess with clothes you always need to worry about them fitting or not fitting but there is never that problem with handbags.
Every year I tell myself I will not spend any more money on bags and instead will save up to treat myself to a designer bag -hello Gucci Soho disco and Chanel 2.55 – but I fail miserably every single time. I just can’t help myself. Whenever I go online to check my favourite shops I always steer towards the handbag section first. I can probably tell you all the bags Zara have on their site at the moment. Yes, I’m that sad.
Handbags are can really add the perfect finising touches to any outfit and you don’t really need to spend the earth to get nice ones.
